Poseidon Expeditions Offers West Greenland and Disko Bay Cruises

Greenland

Poseidon Expeditions is picking up 70 percent of the costs of roundtrip air from Iceland’s Reykjavik to the port of embarkation in Greenland for its May 30-June 6, 2018, eight-day West Greenland & Disko Bay expedition voyage of the far north.

The value of the roundtrip air is $1,410 per person. Guests booking cabins on Poseidon Expeditions’ polar cruising star, the all-suite, 114-passenger Sea Spirit pay only $499 per person. The roundtrip flight is from Reykjavik to Greenland’s Kangehussuaq where guests are transported to Nuuk, the port of embarkation. This arrangement saves North American clients time and money. Heretofore they flew via Copenhagen, Denmark to access the ship in West Greenland. Limited air seats are available at this $499 price.

The area of exploration encompasses a wealth of natural wonders such as the famous Ilulissat Icefjord, the beautiful Eqip Sermia glacier, the heart-shaped Uummannaq mountain, and breathtaking fjords, such as Nuuk fjord, reaching deep into the mountainous wilderness of Greenland. The per person double rate for this cruise is $5,695. See: https://poseidonexpeditions.com/arctic/disco-bay-birthplace-of-icebergs/.

Another itinerary, this time a 12-day cruise June 6-17, 2018 exploring the glaciers, icebergs, Viking settlements and Inuit culture of Greenland’s west coast, offers fully complimentary airfare from Reykjavik to Kangehussuaq for embarkation. The cruise disembarks in Reykjavik. The value of the one-way air is $617 for guests booking cabins on this voyage along Greenland’s west coast from Cape Farewell, at the southern tip of the country, to Disko Bay, deep inside the Arctic Circle. The regular per person double rate is $7,995, but Poseidon is now offering 10 percent savings from these rates. Once aboard Sea Spirit guests enjoy the freshness of a brand-new $1 million refurbishment of all 55 guest suites. This was the final phase of a three-year full ship renovation that also included all public areas. Sea Spirit offers all-suite accommodations with square footages ranging from 215 to 463. There are two multi-purpose lounges for educational programming and entertainment, a restaurant that can accommodate all passengers in one seating, a well-stocked library, and ample outdoor deck space to enjoy the polar landscapes and wildlife. Activities directed by a team of experienced polar guides and educators include Zodiac excursions, hiking and optional kayaking and camping, along with informative presentations aboard. The ship’s expedition staff-to-passenger ratio of 1:9 is one of the best in the business.
