While many travel experts are predicting a “sold-out summer,” it’s not too late to book Alaska cruises for this season.
Silversea has many cruises onboard Silver Muse available starting in July to late September. Below, five reasons to book your Alaska cruise with Silversea and an itinerary to match your wanderlust and bucket-list needs.
5 Reasons to Book an Alaska Cruise with Silversea this Summer
1. See the Northern Lights
Northern Lights, Camera, Action! Take a cruise from Vancouver to Seward and you’ll have the chance to get your own photo of the Aurora Borealis. Photo tip: Make sure you have the right equipment and your camera is set to correct settings to get the shot.

2. Spot the Denali Big 7
Denali has Big 5 wild animals that visitors hope to see: Moose, wolves, bear (black and grizzly), Dall sheep and caribou. If you add rare sightings of Canada lynx and wolverine, there’s actually a Denali Big 7. Peak bear season is typically mid-June through the end of August with May to September as the best overall time for wildlife viewing.

4. Catch the Great Salmon Run
The salmon run starts in the spring and runs into the fall depending on the geographic area and species. Although the run isn’t consistent from year to year in terms of numbers of fish and timing, the main runs take place in July and August. King salmon, or ‘spring salmon’ are usually the first to return with the sockeye, pink, chum, and silver after. Guests can even spot bears on the hunt for their lunch.

5. Check Glacier Hiking Off your Bucket List
“An Alaskan cruise takes you on a journey in more senses than one, into the unknown. It’s a land of vivid colors, exceptional beauty, iconic wildlife, and vast landscapes of unimaginable grandeur,” says Lucia Griggi, Silversea’s Director of Onboard Photography who has traveled to all seven continents with the cruise line. You’ll arrive at a rocky shore by Zodiac where you’ll set off in search of Davidson Glacier, a large 7.4 km² valley glacier near Haines, Alaska.
