Kids Go Free on European Hotel Barge Vacations

European Waterways is catering to the growing market for family travel with a new “kids go free” promotion on select hotel barges in France and Scotland this summer.  The company is also offering a wider range of family-friendly excursions and meal options that will appeal to families with children of all ages.  On the eight-passenger L’Art de Vivre in Burgundy and Anjodi on the Canal du Midi, two children can go free on each barge, as part of the promotion.  On the 12-passenger La Belle Epoque in Burgundy and Spirit of Scotland, the company’s newest luxury vessel cruising the Caledonian Canal in Scotland, up to three children can go free. Children must be under 18 and the whole boat charters must be booked by May 30 to qualify.

Based on the “kids go free” promotion – which equates to a 25% saving – whole boat charters of L’Art de Vivre are $25,125, down from $33,500. Eligible departure dates are July 23, August 13 and August 20. Similar  savings  are available on Anjodi for its August 13 departure.  Whole boat charter prices for Spirit of Scotland are $37,125, reduced from $49,500, for its August 13 and 20 departures. Again, similar charter savings are available for La Belle Epoque for its August 13 departure.

Among its diverse program of family-friendly activities, European Waterways is offering theme park admissions, prehistoric cave exploration and go-karting.  Onboard menus for all the family, from informal BBQs to gourmet meals, are specially prepared by the onboard master chef.  Guests can also book other activities such as hot air ballooning and horse-back riding directly with local providers when they are onboard.

“Every parent knows that a stuffy hotel room can be confining to restless children, but a hotel barge – which is out in the fresh air and cruising ‘the big outdoors’ – is a vacation in itself,” said Derek Banks, managing director for European Waterways. “The whole world comes to you as you cruise scenic waterways in luxury and comfort, passing beautiful countryside, storybook villages and castles straight out of a fairy tale.  Your friendly and highly attentive crew is also there to cater to every member of the family, keeping everyone happy and ensuring that no one is ever bored. ”

Banks added: “When you consider the wide range of excursions, meals and amenities already included in the price, chartering a European Waterways hotel barge can be a greater value option than renting several hotel rooms and paying meals, transportation and excursions for every member of the family.”
